Heathen Apostles 2024 Follow Up to Southern Gothic UK Tour
The Heathen Apostles (Mather Louth, Chopper Franklin, Thomas Lorioux and Luis Mascaro) have just announced the final dates for their 2024 UK Tour, it is the follow up to their Southern Gothic UK Tour of 2023. Here is the social media release they have posted today:
Here is the poster announcing the dates for our 2024 UK tour; some venues we played last year, as well as several new ones. We’ve also been fortunate to be invited to some great festivals this year as well: three nights at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival @edfringe, two days at Dorset’s Camp Bestival @campbestival, the Endorset in Dorset Festival @endorsetfestivalofficial and our last show of the tour at a festival that has yet to announce their line up.
Thanks to our booking agent Dana McDonald Oxaal for putting this together, and to Hawkeye Houlihan for assisting us in many ways that only he can. And to all the Heathens who have shown up to the shows, no matter what the weather and conditions; we can’t wait to see you all! Heathen Apostles – Among Musical Acts at Fringe Festival
Today’s UK tour announcement is a unique one; we’ll be doing a three day residency (August 5th – 7th) at Edinburgh, Scotland’s Fringe Festival. Unique in that most performers during the 25 day festival are usually actors, dancers and comedians (among others); we are very pleased to be among the few musical acts at Fringe Festival. Many thanks to our agent Dana McDonald Oxaal for arranging this.

Here is some history of the Fringe Festival:
The Fringe started life when eight theatre companies turned up uninvited to the inaugural Edinburgh International Festival in 1947. With the International Festival using the city’s major venues, these companies took over smaller, alternative venues for their productions. Seven performed in Edinburgh, and one undertook a version of the medieval morality play “Everyman” in Dunfermline Abbey, about 20 miles north, across the River Forth in Fife. These groups aimed to take advantage of the large assembled theatre crowds to showcase their own alternative theatre. Although at the time it was not recognised as such, this was the first Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
This meant that two defining features of the future Fringe were established at the very beginning – the lack of official invitations to perform and the use of unconventional venues. Originally, these groups referred to themselves as the “Festival Adjuncts” and were also referred to as the “semi-official” festival. It was not until the following year, 1948, that Robert Kemp, a Scottish playwright and journalist, is credited with coining the title “Fringe” when he wrote during the second Edinburgh International Festival:
“Round the fringe of official Festival drama, there seems to be more private enterprise than before … I am afraid some of us are not going to be at home during the evenings!”

2024 Heathen Apostles UK Tour – 1st Announcements
Today the announcements begin for the dates for the 2024 Heathen Apostles UK tour; the band was asked back to many of the venues they played last year, as well as several new ones. Our first show of the 2024 Heathen Apostles UK tour is on Wednesday, 17 July at the Facebar in Reading, we played there last year and as you can tell by the moody photos (by Andrew Merrit) it was quite a dark and mysterious night. This is a great night to start the tour, let us know who is going! HERE is the ticket link, (we’ve been told they are moving rather briskly already).
It is our pleasure to announce we will be returning to London at The Lexington on Thursday, 18 July. Also appearing is @messagefromtheravens, this is going to be quite a night, see you there!

On 21 July we’ll be back in Brighton, but this time around we’ll be appearing at the Hope & Ruin, a grassroots music venue and pub that strives to support the independent live music scene in Brighton. All of their bar products are plant based to compliment the offerings from Beelzebab who provide fast food from a caravan in the corner of the pub.

Heathen Apostles Show at Bar Sinister
The Heathen Apostles will be appearing at Bar Sinister, Southern California’s premiere Gothic club, this Friday, December 8th. Also on the bill at the show at Bar Sinister will be Jason Charles Miller and Carrellee, and it will feature DJ Purgatory.
Heathen Apostles Tour and Southern Gothic Music Video
The dates have been finalized for the Heathen Apostles UK tour. The first show is on 13 July, 2023, it will be their first one of the United Kingdom. There are 18 dates and will be built around their appearance at the Rustic Stomp Festival in Dorset, Poole on 15 July. The band will be shooting a southern gothic music video for their next single from their current release Bloodgrass Vol. 3 & 4. Born of the voices of past lives and baptized in the dust bowl dirt, the Gothic Americana music of the Heathen Apostles harkens back to a bygone chapter of American history. Using contrasting influences such as Bauhaus, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and The Pogues along with Howlin’ Wolf, Loretta Lynn (the band covers her classic Fist City) and Bessie Smith, the Heathen Apostles have created a style of music that at once conjurs both angels and demons, and will enlighten a darkened soul.
The Rustic Stomp Festival – Gothic Western Hoedown
The Rustic Stomp, Dorset’s finest Roots Festival is bringing together a plethora of local, national and international artists to give you the finest bluegrass, gothic western hoedown, blues, swamp stomp, country-based festival, with tractors, that money can buy. Three days of music and merriment are all wrapped within the Rustic aesthetic. This year’s Rustic Stomp will also include historic vehicles and a Well Bean hub within the festival arena.This year’s festival brings together three of the Crawdaddy festival brands under one roof, as it were. The Wonky Donk stage will feature the best of hoedown, country and hillbilly music. The Dark Holler stage takes a slightly, well, darker comedic look at life and the Organford stage is a more accessible, easy listening venue.
The event opens up on a ticketed event headlined by local foot-stompers The Jimmy Hillbillies throwing down their Dorset Hoedown for the masses. Friday night features the mighty Frank from Blue Velvet from Hastings and taking the Roots scene by storm, local skiffle kings Quinn’s Quinney, as well as Burg and the Vagabond Choir and festival favourites The Curst Sons. Saturday has a real heavy weight feel to it with international superstars the Heathen Apostles featuring ex-Cramps member Chopper Franklin, headlining the event. Texas Swing outfit the Bootheel Playboys, Dead Horse Bay, a plethora of local artists on the Dungaville Stage and London’s finest banjo player and builder Flatfoot Johnny. Sunday takes a stronger turn towards the genre of Country with the amazing Sarah Vista headlining.
The history of the Rustic Stomp goes back over 10 years, when Hawkeye Houlihan and some friends put on a little festival at the Donkey Sanctuary at Home Farm, Lytchet. The aim then was to help rescue donkeys by putting on some great rustic music that people would love. Well, the donkeys are rescued now and the festival is growing, its aim to put the Dorset ‘roots’ scene on the map. The festival is also looking to grow and has moved to a new, more accessible site at Pike’s Farm, Organford. “Each year we are aiming to increase the accessibility of this type of music to a wider audience and promote the local artists that provide the backbone to the scene, as well as bring in some top-ranking national and international stars” says Hawkeye.
The Rustic Stomp is on from the evening of Thursday 13th July until Sunday 16th July and takes place at Pikes Farm, Organford, Dorset. Weekend tickets are £86.40, day tickets from £27.50.

The Heathen Apostles UK tour will begin in July of 2023, it will be their first one of the United Kingdom. It’s almost Halloween and it’s time to announce the Heathen Apostles’ annual Gothic Western Halloween “Play a Goth Themed Show One Night, a Honky Tonk Themed Show the Next”. We’ll be at Bar Sinister in Hollywood on Saturday Oct. 29th (with God Module), and then the Echoplex in Echo Park on Devil’s Night Sunday Oct. 30th (w/ Blue Drivers and Sie Sie Bernhoff, doors at 6pm). We’ll have guest musicians Aubrey Richmond on violin and Patrick Muzingo on drums. So pick your poison, we got your Goth and we got your Western, we hope to see all of you in So Cal at one or both of the shows!

2020 was a year of loss, reflection, and reevaluation. Trying as the times were to have a trio of tour cancellations both stateside and abroad as the live music industry seemingly evaporated overnight, the Heathen Apostles did not let the unexpected gift of time go to waste. To the contrary, the band channeled the turbulent year’s events and its complex emotions into their music, and the result- BLOODGRASS VOL. 3&4- is a dark country album of a collection of songs at once timely as they are timeless.

The Heathen Apostles will be returning to Bar Sinister for a Halloween show on Saturday October 29th. Bar Sinister is the premiere goth club is Los Angeles, located at 652 N. Cherokee Ave, Hollywood, just south of Hollywood Blvd.

Final Dates for Heathen Apostles’ Bloodgrass Music Tour
The final tour dates have been announced for the Heathen Apostles September 2021 European Tour, they will be visiting Germany, France, Sweden Italy, Belgium and The Netherlands. Their Bloodgrass music tour was booked to make up for the postponed tour of September 2020, and they are playing many of the same venues on board one year later. They will be supporting their upcoming EP Bloodgrass Vol. 3, out August 27th on Ratchet Blade Records, and the precursor to the 2022 release of the Bloodgrass Vol. 3 & 4 album.

The Heathen Apostles have cancelled their May/June 2021 European tour due to the Covid 19 crisis. Here is their cancellation announcement:
Once again we are having to announce the cancellation of another tour, this one our May/June 2021 European tour. Due to the ongoing COVID 19 crisis, and the delay in getting vaccinations on both continents, our next appearance in Europe will be our September 2021 tour, and we are rescheduling the canceled tour to May/June 2022 (contact Kurt De Bont at Rootstown bookings for info). Heathen Apostles’ 2020 European Tour Postponed
The Heathen Apostles’ 2020 European tour in September has been postponed due to the COVID 19 crisis, the band announced recently. Whenever possible the dates will be rescheduled to September 2021, several have already been confirmed, check back for announcements. The band will also be touring in Europe before that, Kurt DeBont of Rootstown Bookings is taking offers for May and June 2021. You can contact him by clicking HERE.

Heathen Apostles Bring Dark Americana to Europe in 2021
Booking has begun for the Heathen Apostles Europe 2021 tour, and the band is looking forward to bringing their Dark Americana music back there once again. Their September 2020 European tour is still on as of now, but will depend on future travel restrictions. Be sure and check the band out this year, see below for those tour dates.

Heathen Apostles’ Gothic Acoustic Tour Postponed
The Heathen Apostles and Speedbuggy USA Gothic Acoustic West Coast Tour has been postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis. It was to take both bands up the US West Coast and back during the last two weeks of April. The bands are hoping to reschedule for June 2020, but of course everything is up in the air right now. Check back for more info on this tour, and all upcoming dates (the Heathen Apostles’ European Tour in September is still looking like a good possibility), and the band wants to convey to their fans to stay safe during this crisis.
Heathen Apostles To Appear With Pirate Goth Band The Dread Crew of Oddwood
The Heathen Apostles will be appearing with pirate goth act The Dread Crew of Oddwood on Friday April 10th at The Satellite in Los Angeles, Ca. It will be the Heathens last show before their West Coast tour with Speedbuggy USA (running from Friday April 17th through Sunday April 16th), so come on down and get in on the wild times. The Dread Crew of Oddwood is a folk metal band known for its pirate-themed music played exclusively on acoustic instruments. They have dubbed this unique style as Heavy Mahogany. Embarking from San Diego in 2008, this bloodthirsty horde has accumulated a commendable cult following and is rapidly gaining infamy throughout the far corners of the world.
By infusing the raw energy of heavy metal with Celtic folk music, The Dread Crew of Oddwood’s pirate goth style has carved a distinct and popular niche in the heavy metal community. They riff and shred on the accordion, mandolin, bouzouki, tin whistle, toy piano, acoustic guitar, upright bass, and “Oddkit”, while weaving grandiose tales of comrades lost, bloody sieges, drunken debauchery, zombies, airships, and time travel!

Heathen Apostles in a Night of Gothic Outlaw Country
The Heathen Apostles will be playing Friday March 8th with Jason Charles Miller and Hannah Aldridge for a great night of gothic outlaw country at the world famous Whisky-a-Go-Go in West Hollywood, Ca. You can get advance tickets HERE.
Jason Charles Miller is an American singer-songwriter known for his solo albums as well as being the lead vocalist and guitarist of the industrial rock band Godhead. Hannah Aldridge is an Americana/ Folk artist originally from Muscle Shoals, Al. She is the daughter of the #1 hit songwriter and Alabama Music Hall of Fame inductee, Walt Aldridge.
Cowboy Goth Art Show at Black Sheep Art Gallery
The Heathen Apostles will be appearing at the Black Sheep Gallery in Burbank, Ca. on Sunday January 19th. It is a special event and cowboy goth art installation called ‘Frontier Justice’, and is described by the gallery as: “Frontier Justice – when the law was newly forming and the people in the west took matters into their own hands. This show will touch on The history of the spread of democracy, criminal behavior, the pilgrimage of settlers voyaging into the desert, and the effects this time had on native people and the country itself. We hope to enlighten you with the harsh winds of the west and the cold nights of the desert.”
The Black Sheep Gallery is an immersive and artistic space featuring dark art and macabre delights in Burbank California. The cowboy goth Frontier Justice event begins at 7pm, and the Heathen Apostles will be playing two sets. For more info click HERE.

The music of Wovenhand and songwriter/multi-instrumentalist David Eugene Edwards has always had an unparalleled intensity. Edwards’ rich, billowing and emotive voice is always the driving force of his ethereal music, but it’s catapulted by his spellbinding ability to transform instruments that many people might consider mundane relics — be it banjo, accordion, lesser-known folk instruments from around the world, or even an electric guitar — into devices of dark fury and poignant beauty.
From the apocalyptic revivification of antique Americana of Sixteen Horsepower in the 90s to the threadbare balladry of Wovenhand’s early releases, Edwards’ music has maintained its celestial heaviness as it evolved. But now in its current incarnation, Wovenhand is a band that fully expands that power with exacting and inventive skill. It’s a sound so distinctive and compellingly crushing that even the heaviest of metal bands can’t match.
Wovenhand’s current lineup includes guitarist Chuck French, bassist Neil Keener (both of Planes Mistaken For Stars) and drummer Ordy Garrison, now joined by piano/synth player Matthew Smith (Crime & The City Solution). Star Treatment was recorded at Steve Albini’s legendary Electrical Audio in Chicago with engineer Sanford Parker, who also helmed Wovenhand’s 2014 album Refractory Obdurate.

Heathen Apostles Play Amigo the Devil After-Party Nov. 1st
The Heathen Apostles will be playing a Dia de los Muertos show at The Love Song Bar in DTLA on Fri. Nov. 1st for the Amigo the Devil after-party for his show with King Dude & Twin Temple that is happening at The Regent Theater in downtown Los Angeles (which is next door to The Love Song Bar).
This show will also be the release party for the Heathen Apostles’ new Born By Lightning EP, which will be released on Halloween on Ratchet Blade Records. For more info click HERE.
